About San Storm:

San Motors was conceived as a never done before project in India. Since independence in 1947, India had only four passenger car manufacturing companies of which two fell by the wayside. The models that were produced were ancient, but as there was no competition the consumer had to be content with what was available. Automobile enthusiasts longed for a time when the automobile industry and the economy as a whole would open up. Then came the process of liberalization and suddenly India was the destination for global automobile producers. A plethora of models were introduced to suit every requirement, well almost! Size, shape, design, budget were all taken care of except one important aspect, which though prevalent overseas, was completely ignored for India as the automobile majors thought the Indian market was not suitable for ---- a convertible! It was after all a numbers game and all about money. This left the enthusiast shortchanged again, that is until along came a bunch of likeminded enthusiasts with a determination to do what was said couldn't be done. Thus was born San Motors.

It is only appropriate that in the worlds' largest democracy you have a car "by the people for the people". The common automobile enthusiast could only slobber at high end convertibles being driven by the rich and famous who spent more money in monthly fuel bills than the average man's salary! Now with the advent of the San Storm the common automobile enthusiast could stick two fingers up to chap in the expensive convertible at the traffic lights.

The San Storm is all about the fun aspect of motoring which seems all but forgotten in todays world .You've got ride, comfort, economy, style and a sense of pride of ownership all rolled into one. The Storm was designed by the world famous Le Mans Design Group comprising of Gerard Godfroy the designer, Phillipe Belou the engineer and Christophe Bhir for build and prototyping. Godfroy was the founder and designer of the French supercar Venturi and has designed cars for a number or automobile majors like Peugot, Renault etc. Belou has regularly engineered cars that have won their class at the Le Mans 24 Hour race. Bhir has prototyped or built most of them. When they were given the assignment the dictum was clear, it had to have a timeless style, good handling and a little bit of everything for every type of buyer of such a car. Have they achieved that? Well take a test drive and find out!

The road was rough, but with dedication and application the team at San Motors have made it. India didn't have a small home grown industry of quality ancilliary automobile parts manufacturing such as in Europe and USA. Reliable parts manufacturers were large and used to large scale manufacturing and the small ones were unreliable. Renault was most co-operative as the engine supplier and that is the heart of the Storm today. The body is made of fiberglass at our facilities in Bangalore where the chassis and other components are manufactured. From there they are sent to Goa where we have our paintshop and assembly plant where the cars are fully assembled and dispatched. The Bangalore plant also manufactures composite ancilliary products for other automobile companies in India and overseas. Today San Motors are selling their cars in India, Nepal, Cyprus, Malta, Bermuda and UK. The territory is widening and so is the product base.
